ALI JENNISON

I love color and movement.

My paintings are grounded in play, experimentation, and layered revision. History is an important influence–I collect vintage postage stamps, maps, old paper currency, fragments of typography and other historical materials. This visual language enters the work indirectly through texture and collage, suggesting a sense of time, place, and use.

Risk and uncertainty are integral to my process. I begin without a fixed outcome, allowing each piece to unfold as I build the surface through layers of paint and collage. Each decision responds to what is already present, and the work evolves through this dialogue. I invite the viewer to experience a sense of discovery and mystery.

The paintings are often high-energy, with an emphasis on color and movement. My goal is to create work that feels alive—charged with energy—and that connects the viewer to a personal memory or emotional response.
